In order to provide space for contemporary expression and innovation, initially in the field of Performing and Visual Arts, a Society has been registered under SR Act vide no. 1497 dated 31st July 2014
An Art Gallery & Studio has been set up at Gandhi Park on rent basis from PBMC.
Though the Kala Kendra has been commissioned in the year 2015 & the activities were taken care of by the existing staff of Art & Culture department as a stop gap arrangement. But the activities were improved in the year 2018-19 by engaging required number of technical staff on consolidated payment as a temporary arrangement. Now the services of Kala Kendra have been extended to every nook and corner of A & N Islands right from Campbell Bay to Diglipur besides Port Blair.
